Prayer Camp 2015

The need for regular prayer before the desperate need arises drawing us to prayer was emphasized at the beginning of the new term of the Executive Committee. It started with a special day of prayer with the Regional Presbyters on 26th November 2014 and where the theme “Together let us build the altar of the Lord” was adopted. This was the precursor to the Pastors’ Prayer Camp that was held at Green Hills Retreat Center, Kotagala from the 20th to 22nd January 2015, which was spearheaded by the Nuwara Eliya church lead by Rev. Yoganathan.

Some 200 pastors and a few leaders from the twelve Regions participated at this prayer camp which had a great impact on many who attended. Veteran leaders such as Rev. Vernon Perera, Rev. Michael Dissanayeke, Rev. Dishan Wickramaratne and Rev. Yoganathan delivered divinely inspired messages and revelations that stirred up the hearts of those who attended. Prophetic messages came through challenging the pastors to venture out during this time that God would demonstrate His faithfulness to those who believe by opening doors that were previously closed. He will rekindle the lamps of His servants who will become as shining stars.

  • Rev. Yoganathan delivered the key note address on the importance of prayer and how to build up your prayer life.
  • Rev .Vernon Perera quoting Esther 4:14 and 3:13 spoke on the importance of a continuous life style of prayer that could move mountains.
  • Rev. Michael Dissanayake spoke on how to build a relationship in prayer to the highest level that would yield results.
  • Rev. Dishan Wickremratne referred to the Parable of the Sower and how to tune in to the sweet voice of God amongst many distracting voices that we hear.
  • Rev. Jayantha Amarajewa spoke on Moses’ prayer life that could be a model, which could be emulated by us.

Special prayer was offered by Rev. Vernon Perera and others for the country, the newly elected President, Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers. Individual pastors were nominated to continue to uphold each Ministry of Government prayed for on a continual basis.  Rev. Dr. Senaka de Silva prayed for heads of each of our Departments by name. On each day praise and worship was conducted by a different teams lead by Rev. Yoganathan, Rev. Dewaasirwatham, Ps. Nagarajah and Ps. Ramesh.
